Lymphatic Drainage (also known as Manual Lymphatic Therapy) is a form of gentle and light massage designed to encourage the natural drainage of our body's lymphatic system. Treatment varies with each condition being addressed. A therapist may use a number of different lymphatic massage techniques that can provide the optimum results for their client.

What is the Lymphatic System

The Lymphatic System has an important role in health maintenance. The lymphatic system is made up of nodes and vessels. The vessels transport the lymph fluid containing waste products such as toxins, bacteria, dead cells, excess proteins, hormones and immunocompetent cells from within the body to a central site for removal. The healthy functioning of the lymphatic system can be hindered, or stopped, due to factors such as stress, chemical overload, age, lack of activity or food additives and poor diet.

What is involved in a Lymphatic Drainage session

Manual Lymphatic Therapy uses techniques which naturally stimulate the functioning of the lymphatic system. Hand manoeuvres which are gentle and light which are specific and non-invasive are used in the therapy. Lymphatic Drainage can be beneficial in the correction of numerous conditions, as well as in preventive health maintenance.

The appointment will be approximately 60 minutes & your practitioner will work with you to discuss a treatment plan and program that’s best for you.
